We foster an appreciation of Delmarva's distinctive natural and cultural heritage through exploration, education, and imagination.

Pricing 

Student$5, plus $2 per each added program

Teacher/Leaders - Free

Chaperones/Parents - $5

**School groups must have a 10 student minimum or $70 minimum when booking a program. **

Animal Programs

If We Were Otters: How would our bodies need to change if we lived like otters?  Learn all about the adaptations that allow river otters to thrive in the waters of the Pocomoke River through a fun and interactive dress up game with our resident otters Mac and Tuck! 

Cold Blooded Friends: Come and meet some of our scaly friends that live on Delmarva! Discover what makes turtles and snakes so unique with our live animal ambassadors and learn how they are different from you and me!

Saved by the Shell: Discover some of the animals that inhabit the waters of the Atlantic Coastal Bays at the hands-on, wheel chair- accessible touch-pool exhibit. Learn how each of these animals survive in the ever changing waters of the coast, and get the chance to handle horseshoe crabs, whelks, clams, and more!

 

Discovery Programs

River Rovers:  Use your observational skills to find clues in the natural world along the Pocomoke River that reveal the living things around us! Note- in case of inclement weather, and indoor version of River Rovers will be substituted

Critter Craft: Give your students the chance to show off their creative side and make a fun craft based on what they learned and the animals that they saw on their field trip! Let them color, build, and create a fun reminder of their time at the Delmarva Discovery Museum!

 

Nature Detectives: Discover how we can use our senses to explore the world around us. Use your senses of touch, sight, and hearing to uncover the mystery objects, and become a nature detective!

Classy Creatures: How do we tell the difference between a bird, mammal, and a reptile? What are the main characteristics of each animal class and how do their differences help them thrive in their unique habitats!

Local History Programs

Sturgis One –Room School Schoolhouse: The Sturgis School, located next door to the Discovery Museum, is the only preserved African American one- room schoolhouse in Worcester County. What would rural schools and homes have been like 100 years ago? Take a step back in time to find out!

Steamboat Journey – Explore our replica steamboat and learn about these impressive boats that were once one of the most important means of transporting people and goods in and around Delmarva.

Native Americans on Delmarva: This program introduces students to the Native Americas who lived on Delmarva for some 15,000 years before the first European explores arrived. It focuses on their total dependence on the natural world for all their material needs and the knowledge such a dependence required.
