Step 1: Tank arrives at DDC
Click here to see photos of the tank's arrival.
Step 2: Scenic treatment of tank
The 6,000 gallon freshwater aquarium tank is designed to look like the underwater world of the
Pocomoke River.
Step 3: Prep tank for fish
Preparing a tank of this size takes time. The plumbing and filtration systems are detailed and extensive.
The water quality must be monitored to ensure our fish will survive when placed in the tank. We have
numerous volunteers and professionals assisting with this project to make it run as smoothly as possible.
Step 4: Fish are introduced
The fish that will be in the tank can all be found in the Pocomoke River. Species such as Atlantic Sturgeon,
Gar, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, and Bluegills will find their home in our tank.
Step 5: Aquarium exhibit opens
We are excited to see this dream become a reality. The aquarium will be a great place to see the River life that can
most times be difficult to see due to the dark color of the Pocomoke River. We hope you will enjoy it!
